Hey guys!
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I was gone for the last 2 months…. Don’t worry I didn’t recant my fandom. I’m actually in the Army now and just finished Basic training. It was by far one of the most physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally trying times of my life and I wanted to quit several times, but by God’s grace and strength I made it through!! I’m at AIT now in Ft. Jackson, SC so I’m not sure how regular my posts will be, but I’ll do my best to keep up with all the news. I’ve missed ya’ll and have really appreciated all of the support throughout this time!

I’m not sure if you guys have seen the video yet or not, but I posted a video of my friends getting engaged. My buddy Dan just called me and shared the whole story and when I heard it I was like “dang I gotta share this!” He made her do a treasure hunt all around Manassas and DC at each stop there was a rose with another clue and then his friend would wisk her away off to the new spot. Well at the very end she gets off the boat and walks on the dock and Dan is standing there with the rose! Talk about classy right? If you haven’t seen the video here it is

All of Martin’s food posts have gotten me thinking. If you were to make one dish for any member of your choosing what would it be, who would it be for and why did you choose this dish?

I’ll go first!
I’d make Yenny a nice Pancake Breakfast with REAL Maple Syrup and Turkey Bacon on the side. I’d make this because breakfast is the most important meal of the day and turkey bacon is really good and also slightly better for you than regular bacon. Also, you have to have real maple syrup or it just doesn’t taste right haha

Oh my goodness guys God is sooooo faithful!!! So I told you guys what happened with my hard drive and how it fried and I was freaking out because I had sooo much work to do and only 2 weeks before graduation. Wellll today I was freaking out (even more) and went to my advisor and he saw that I had an extra Arts & Science elective so now I can just drop a class that I had 5 units left in and devote all my time to finishing strong!

In November the Wonder Girls released their spectacular album Wonder World. The album was a huge success and brought on spectacular hits. Promotionals came frequently and performances were also coming weekly. The comeback has been a huge success in Asia as well as the States.

However, since January a US Album has been in the works and us Americans have been waiting eagerly. JYP has been tight lipped and the girls have also not been around much. The girls have been working top producers and been pushing hard to perfect the album. Remember friends it has only been two months and the longer we wait the more time they have to make it sound good.

If you rush a carpenter to build the house, it won’t be as nice. It is the same here! JYP wants it to be successful and success takes time. Remember it will all be worth it! Here’s a reminder of how our waiting paid off last time!

I just want to send a shout out to our very own 3WF’s! For six months you three ladies have made Fantasic a welcoming place and help noobs like myself know more about kpop than I thought I would know in my life! You ladies are constantly picking people up when they are feeling down and are continuously friendly toward everyone. Without ya’ll Fantastic would not be awesome as it is. So here’s to many more anniversaries for our fantastic 3WF’s!

As you all know, the Wonder Girls have indeed stormed back and have made their presence known once again in the K-Pop world. All of those haters who said they failed here in the States and are irrelevant in Korea are now band wagoners. However, throughout all of this the girls have maintained complete composure and patience while answering some difficult questions. All of this once again made me think of how unique these girls are in the music industry and how unique JYP Entertainment is.

From the start it was SNSD vs. Wonder Girls and what do the girls say about this? They completely crush that idea and say that they each have their own lanes. That would have been the perfect time to strike and say “you know what we were the ones that just took the number one spot so they were never queens.”

When the Teddy Riley question came up they could have easily torn him apart and put him into his place, but instead they say he is entitled to his opinion. Even me being a christian artist it would have been hard for me not to slam him for the things that he said, but they still took the high road.

They are also so interactive with their fans. Video podcasts as well as actually visiting fan sites and interacting in fronts where we don’t have to pay cash to talk to them. For world super stars they are certainly accessible to their fans and that is something you do not see in other groups. I know some big artists who won’t even talk with their own opening act let alone interact with fans, but these girls constantly have fan meets and write back on twitter and through other sites as well.

I also credit JYP for giving them the freedom to do all these things. These girls are not forbidden to interact nor to just stay in their own dormitories. Instead, he allows them to interact online and even compose their own songs for the album! JYP trusts his artists and I definitely respect him for that.

Never take for granted how awesome these girls and this company is because they could easily be big headed about their accomplishments and have their management write things for them. It truly is wonderful to be a wonderful.

The Queens have just received an all kill for be My Baby and it looks like these girls are going straight to the top! This is the girls first full length album since 2007 and it certainly incorporates a lot of what they learned in the states.

The album opens up with the Yenny composed G.N.O. which she herself described as a club song done right… in Korean. I completely agree this song screams for the world to get on the dance floor, jump up and down and sing along!

Be My Baby is the second track. This song should do extremely well in Korea as it brings back the familiarity of catchy kpop choruses. It features a lot of Sohee, which is probably an effort to show how she has improved. She sounds very strong and confident. The beat is superb as well.

Next is a smoother Girls Girls. This is definitely a nod your head track with superb production brought to us by JYP. Yubin tears it up with her rap so effortlessly over this very catchy song. They also show off vocally on this song too.

Me In is the next track and is once again composed by Yenny. This song really catches the ears of westerners with it’s rock undertones and in your face style. The vocals in this are also superb. Yubin also shows us why she is one of the best rappers in kpop owning the track. At one point the instrumental fades leaving just the girls and the snare to show us their matured vocals. I love this style so much and am extremely excited to see this full video.

Sweet Dreams is the next track and is my personal favorite on the album. It has a very upbeat tempo and great harmonizations throughout the track. The beat sort of reminds me of an 80′s theme meets Techno. The track is extremely catchy and once again miss Yubin comes in with a sort of whispered rap that matches the beat so well.

The awesome ride does not stop with Stop! As the girls belt out the stop thinkin about me chorus, but girls how is that possible when y’all are owning our ears?? I think this track may be Yubin’s best performance as she switches her flow up so effortlessly throughout the verse starting out just feeling the beat out and switching to a doubly syllabled rap toward the end of the verse. Absolutely superb…rappers take notes.

Dear. Boy is a slow paced track where you really get to hear some emotional sound in their voice. Vocally this may be the best track on the album as the girls sound so strong. The hook consists of more superb harmonization and wonderful high notes.

Next is a duet between Yenny & Sun that just send chills up the spine. It is a great slow beat which allow these natural vocalists to have fun with each other and own this track. You can really hear maturity in their voices and remember what set these girls apart from many other groups. They sound superb together!

The next track is SuperB and it certainly lives up to it’s name. This one is a Yubin and Sohee duet over an uptempo beat that is a head bobber. Yubin actually showcases some good singing herself and reminds people that she is not just a rapper. Sohee really shuts up her haters with her maturity in vocals!

Act Cool is my second favorite track on the album and it definitely brings the rapper out in me! I would love to rap over this beat. Jyp just sounds like he was having a blast producing this. Lim goes solo on this and absolutely has some fun. I’ve always admired Lim’s rapping skills and her attitude. The attitude is definitely present on this track as the tiger is let out of her cage and is sprung upon the world of Kpop.

Next is a remix of Be My Baby which is a lot slower paced than the original, but still holds it’s own!

Nu Shoes is another club track that makes you wants to get up and start dancing. This song is also a great example of how the west has influenced the girls’ new sound. It includes the catchy kpopness with the attitude and beats of the west. This one is sure to be bumped from Seoul to NYC!

The album ends with an English version of Be My Baby and this is where the girls really show that the English training has not gone to waste! You can hardly hear any accent on Sohee, which was a main criticism of her. They all sound so superb and are very easy for anyone in the English speaking world to understand. Not only can you understand them, but their verses actually make sense and flow very well together.

All this being said the Wonder Girls have put together an East meets West masterpiece that is not going away anytime soon! Congratulations to the girls and Wonderfuls be sure to go pick up the album if you haven’t yet!
