JYP ENTERTAINMENT OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
JYP Entertainment has announced that Mimi from the Wonder Girls has decided
to postpone her musical career to pursue an academic career.
Mimi, the rest of the Wonder Girls members, her family, and JYP Entertainment
have collectively decided to postpone her musical career for the time being.
JYP Entertainment said, “Mimi had a truly memorable, once in a lifetime
experience while living in the U.S. and touring over 50 cities. We support her
decision to pursue an academic career at this time. We will also support Mimi if
she chooses to return to singing after her academics are complete. In the
meantime, she plans to frequent JYP facilities and continue her dance and vocal
classes.”
Mimi will remain with the Wonder Girls in the U.S., continuing with any scheduled
performances and activities until the end of February. As of March, she will return
to Korea and prepare to focus on her studies. JYP has named 17 year old Lim as
the newest member to the quintet. Lim has gone through extensive training at the
JYP Academy for three years and is fluent in four languages: English, Korean,
Mandarin and Cantonese.

Well, every member has right to express what they feel about Sunmi’s leaving in this column.
just please don’t say or judge who is open- minded or who got a good attitude. OK?!
It’s not workable or useful to anyone, either.
I, as a wonderfuls, sure will respect and support Sunmi’s decision even though I still felt sad since have seen the announcement.

after I think twice
I realized that I totally can’t adapt my life without wonder girls
but I still can’t accept that JYPE can found mimi’s substitution ＩＭＭＥＤＩＡＴＥＩＹ
I doesn’t mean who is wrong
I have say that Wonder girls ARE my first idol
not only because of their Nobody or their pretty looking(though it’s still one of the reason)
but I really be shocked by their age
I’m 17 years
and I think I’m not as successful as they are in everywhere
I know I’m just a trivial fan
and all unless words which I said can’t impact anyone’s decision
but when I see wonder girls’ MV which attracts me at first time was played in everywhere in Taiwan
(where maybe you didn’t interested in anymore)
I was very proud of them which is my first choice
I have just finish my college entrance examination
and what I should face with courage is mimi’s leaving
but I’ll still support wonder girls(no matter who)
I’m sorry for betray mimi
but I can’t give up other members of them
hope mimi can finish her study soomthly
and wish JYPE can inform us when mimi come back
no matter whether she still a member of wonder girl or not (I truly hope so)

I personally believe replacing Sunmi is going to have lots of negative repercussions. It shows the world and America that the members of the Wonder Girls are replaceable thus making the girl group inauthentic.

Well… i really DUN THINK SUN MI leaving the group is not because of her studies. To me, i think it should have to do with penetrating the CHINA MARKET.. ONE OF THE WORLD’s GREATEST PIECE OF MEAT….$$$$ This decision is based on the Company’s promotional Plans .. purely for commercial and profit purpose!
Why did i state so?
Firstly, DOES all Fans remembber the ex member of Wonder girls? Hyun Ah.. She dropped out due to health issues as what THE COMPANY CLAIMS… but recently, she had regroup with anthoer GIRL GRoup in korea with another MUSIC COMPANY!!! So what does that means? It meant that the REAL reason she was forced to leave is because THE COMPANY had plans to penetrate US market and YUBIN was choosen due to the fact that she had TRAITS and SIMIILARITIES and PERSONALILITIES of an American Born KOREAN…SO that to create and have a linkage to amercian people… where americans saw the wondergirls would at least think “HEY!! That YUBIN is half american too!”.. and this explains why whenever YUBIN came out to do her rap.. the american audience would cheer the MOST!. and to further justify my assumption and analysis of the above.. it is true that after a yr or so she had replaced Hyun Ah.. the wondergirls really started to ENTER the America Market!
Secondly, AS of NOW.. it is affirm that Wondergirls are trying to ENTER the China Market, so this means that the group must have someone from the CHINA… which is LIM!!! The purpose and pattern is EXACTLY the same as what they did to ex member Hyun Ah!
SO WHAT IF THE COMPANY WANTS TO ENTER THE INDIA MARKET? which is one of the largest market in the world too! SO does tat means SOo HEE is to be replaced? Why Soo Hee? its because SUN MI AND SOO HEE, both vocal are not that good as compare to the rest of the group members! I am not saying that they sing poor, but is just that they are not the lead singers like SUN, Yenny and YUBIN( she cant be replaced as she is the replacement!!) WHAT IS LEFT OF WONDERGIRLS?????????????
IF the COMPANY claims that Sunmi wans to study.. Why cant they employ a few personal PROFESSORs and teach SUN MI and SOO HEE and teach them one to one as they are with the group working hard? I AM Sure the COMPANY can afford the COST here! Both SUN MI and Soo HEE can still take their HIGH SCHOOL EXAMINATIONs.. get good results and put on hold for their university as University can always wait till they are mid 20s or so?? Doesnt this makes more sense?
May purpose of this MESG is not to offend The COmpany or any fans out there, i am just stating a personal point of view from a business. WONDER GIRLS this group was a PERFECT PRODUCT being FORMED BY JYP. Every ladies here are picked, packaged and branded very in detailed to target all age group and songs that are made specially for them to SHINE!! When wondergirls just started, all the members was made to stay together and so that to MERGE as ONE or A FAMILY..to create the bonding… then suddenly, the ex member Hyun Ah was replaced.. but due to the fact that the MERGING AND BONDING at that time was still not FUllY BONDED.. so the detrimental effect was quite littlle.. with new member YUBIN joined.. The wondergirls are PERFECT! The merging and bonding was finally completed with their hits NOBODY!!! With this perfect bonding of the 5 girls, it creates the X factor which all other korean girls group cannot met up to! However, if Sun mi was to replaced now… the effect is goin to be hell….
jus imagine… (a piece of gold 5 BIG diamonds necklace jewellery = Wondergirls finally merge and bonded completely)… nicely crafted and made to perfect resulting this necklace to shine brightly!! But if suddenly 1 of the BIG Diamond were to be taken out… no matter how good the workmanship is… this necklace will no longer be perfect as at least 5% of the necklace was damaged ..loosing its shine…
ITS JUST LIKE F4, the very famous taiwan GUY’s GROUP in whole of asia and china… do u think can any members out of the 4 guys can ever be replaced after they become sooo famous? The answer is Never….
Actually, to penetrate the china market do not necessary need to create an indirect link by getting someone who is partial chinese and korean (this strategy).. The Company can adopt .. 1) WG’s FASHON sense..introduce new fashion waves for china’s teenagers to crave after.. 2) WG’s Attractives and Youth … target al youth of china … as china is one child policy.. so if the child is hook onto WG(wondergirls) .. the parents would buy anything for their child… well.. i am sure JYP is soo talented to come up with soo much more strategies ..
ITS REALLY A PITY FOR WONDERGIRLS…. THEY JUST NEED 1 to 2 MORE HITS l.. like the song NOBODY.. THEY WILL BE LEGEND!!!
anyway, i really love SUn mI…she is my fav!!! she will grow up to be a very beautiful lady… and one day would even shine even brighter once she found her direction. She is a very intelligent person infact..although she seems sooo dreamy always .. Wish u all the best! really hope that you wont leave!

Thanks for the memories!!!!!!!!!!!I will always remember that once I was the Wonderfuls of the Wonder Girls….Once I was really crazy about Korean band that they never see me^^ (that’s a good experience haha) …Once I was opened into a new world by a group called ‘Wonder Girls’
Sun Mi is the heart and beauty of the group. I think she has more fans than the others . I am also her fan too.
I will always support her desicions.
JYP has a big responsiblity about this situation. He did not give a support to Sun Mi. He thinks if Sun Mi leaves, he will find a better one. But this time wrong person JYP.
I agree most of the ideas of ”andi” except one, sun mi vocal is really good like ye un and sunye She is not like sohee.
SunMi is really IRREPLACEABLE as u can understand from the messages.
Problem is JYP’s ambitious for money.
I agree with most of the idea in “andi” explanation, except for mimi vocals.
I’m happy that mimi is pursuing her education.
But with all do respect, I am not willing to accept a new member into wondergirls.
I would rather prefer just going on as a 4 member group until mimi comes back than to have replacements.
With a new member everything is just thrown off.
I understand that the new member has her goods but having her as a member of wondergirls,
it’s just not fair for the fans who has been following them since the birth of wondergirls.
Please don’t put any replacements anymore in wondergirls, hyunah was enough but i do love yubin a lot.
They are the coolest the way they are, Sunmi, Sunye, Sohee, Yubin, and Yeun. That’s the only wondergirls I support.
And if JYP really going to replace her, man, he just lost a good loyal fan. No Joke.

the wondergirls will never be the same again without mimi, that’s always been my strong belief. JYPE cant notice the effects of mimi’s departure to WG, but certainly in the future they will realize it. mimi is talented singer truly a big lost to WG. i also believe that something happen between mimi and JYPE, we dont know what is it, because its hard to understand to leave your biggest dream while the group is in the peak of their careers and suddenly replaced by someone. what are JYPE thinking? for me both parties must speak out (mimi and JYPE) and tell the truth, because we ( fans of WG ) have the right to know the truth.
The wondergirls are coming here to Washington State in a few weeks, Yes. But it is bitter sweet. I luv all the members of WG. But I have grown to really love Sun Mi. I am really going to MISS her. Stay strong is easier said than done. This is gonna be tough. I’m sure all of WG and Hyunah is thinking “no way not again.” Poor WG. I hope this makes them stronger but the reality is that fans won’t be so easily persuaded this time. Not with their fanbase 10x bigger than the first time.
This coupled with 2PM’s Jaebum’s incident is really going to rock JYPE and their fans’ trust in them. I’m afraid of what will happen in the following weeks.
